UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE MEET CONTINUES FOR SECOND CONSECUTIVE DAY TUESDAY
Kathmandu, 13 Sept.: UML central committee, discussing official party position on major issues continues to meet for the second consecutive day Tuesday.
The party, the third largest in parliament, is in the opposition for the first time in 29 months.
Madhav Kumar Nepal led a coalition with NC, and Madeshbadi parties while Jhalanath Khanal headed a majority communist government with Maoists.
Nine agenda items have been set by the standing committee.

MAIN COSTITUTION DRAFTING COMMITTEE MEETS TUESDAY
Kathmandu, 13 Sept.: The main constitutional drafting committee headed by Nilamba Acharya meets Tuesday.
The committee meets after meetings of a sub-committee headed by Maoist Chairman Prachanda to hammer out differences on articles for incorporation in a basic law was adjourned indefinitely more than one week ago.
The Acharya main committee has empowered the Pachanda committee arguing the larger body was unwieldy and a smaller body with representatives of major parties would hasten a statute drafting process.
Prachanda adjourned meetings of his sub-group saying further discussions in a basic law were meaningless with pre-condition of set by NC and UML.
The two parties said for the peace process should first be concluded for constitution drafting.

PM BHATTARAI TO OVERTURNAPPOINTMENTSOF SEVEN VICE-CHANCELLORS
Kathmandu, 13 Sept. Prime Minister Dt. Baburam Bhattarai Monday told seven vice-chancellors of universities their appointments by the previous government will be overturned.
The premier summoned them for a meeting Monday and told them of his decision.
The new government believes they were unilaterally appointed by the government of Jhalanath Khanal without consulting major parties that had lobbied for appointments of their candidates.
Even Maoists in government opposed the appointments and padlocked universities.
Positions were vacant for a long time.

NILENDRA RAJ SHRESTHA NAAA PRESIDENT
Kathmandu, 13 Sept.: Nilendra Raj Shrestha was unanimously elected president of Nepal Amateur Athletics Association (NAAA) Monday by the general assembly.
A 18-member working committee was also unanimously elected.
