MAOIST PM BHATTARAI ATTENDS INDRA JATRA AT BASANTAPUR. UPDATE
Kathmandu, 11 Sept.: Maoist Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai attended Indra Jatra celebrations at Basantapur Square Sunday afternoon.
President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav offered puja at the chariots of Living Goddess Kumari, Ganesh and Bhairav before their processions took off.
The Goddess was placed on the chariot for the four-hour procession through the city’s streets.

PM BHATTARAI DIRECTED TO FILL VACANCIES
Kathmandu, 11 Sept.: Premier Bhattarai deposed for the first time before parliament’s state affairs committee which directed him to fill vacancies in constitutional bodies within one month.
Chiefs of constitutional bodies haven’t been appointed for more than one year Maoists, then in the opposition, had boycotted meetings of a constitutional council where the main opposition is represented.
The prime minister is ex-officio chief of the council
The long vacancies have impacted work of constitutional bodies, including CIAA, Election Commission, Public Service Commission and other bodies.
The committee also directed the new government not to overturn appointments of the previous government approved by a parliamentary hearing committee.
The premier told the committee the peace process is proceeding speedily.
‘The child has been conceived. We should be patient,” he told committee members.

UML CENTRAL COMMITTEE
MEETS MONDAY TO ADOPT PARTY POSITION ON NATIONAL ISSUES
Kathmandu, 11 Swept. UML now in the opposition with NC, will meet Monday to adopt official party position on various national issues with a meeting of the central committee Monday.
A standing committee Sunday fixed agenda for the meet.
The central committee will discuss delayed peace process ,constitution drafting, responsibilities for leaders in party and a four-point agreement between UCPN (Maoist) and a five-party front of Madeshbadi parties
The agreement propelled the Baburam Bhattarai government to power.
