NHRC ASKS PRACHANDA NOT TO AMNESTY PERSONS CHARGED FOR SERIOUS RIGHTS VIOLATIONS
Kathmandu, 22 Sept.: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Thursday asked Maoist Parchanda not to amnesty persons charged for serious rights violations during the 10-year people’s war.
The call comes as government has indicated it’s working to withdraw charges against some persons charged for violations.
Persons charges for violations are lawmakers and one person was also appointed minister in the previous Maoist government led by Chairman Prachanda.
NHRC Chairman Kedarnath Upadhaya and some Commission members met the chairman and asked UCPN (Maoist) chief not to take back charges,
