PM BHATTARAI SEEKS CELMENCY FOR 10 MAOISTS SENTENCED FOR TREASON IN INDIA
Kathmandu, 13 Sept.: Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai held discussions with Indian Ambassdor Jayant Prasad Tuesday as the government chief prepares for a meeting with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New York next week.
The meeting is being held on the sidelines of an annual conference
of the UN annual general assembly session.
Bhattarai, at the meeting, asked Prasad to take diplomatic initiative to grant amnesty to10 top Maoist leaders after Patna high court two weeks convicted and announced jail sentences against 10 top Maoist leaders for treason.
The 10 were among 11 arrested in Bihar during the insurgency.
