PM, MOHAN BAIDYA MEET
Kathmandu, 29 Oct.: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai held a meeting with UCPN (Maoist) Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya Saturday and discussed a forthcoming Maoist central committee meet.
The premier and Baidya and vie-chairmen of UCPN (Maoist) and have developed differences on concluding the peace process, including integration of 19,000 plus former Maoist combatants in state security agencies.
They have also developed differences on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement with India to protect Indian investments in Nepal.
The agreement was signed during the just concluded India visit of the premier to India.
During the hour-long meet a four-point agreement Maoists signed with a coalition of Madeshbadi parties ensuring the majority in
parliament of Maoist-led government was also discussed.
Bhattarai met Baidya to get support of the issues on which there are deep differences.
Speaker Subash Nemwang met the premier Saturday and asked him to conclude an agreement with other parties to conclude the peace
process and promulgate a constitution.

ONE KILLED IN CHITWAN

Kathmandu, 28 Oct.: One person died when hit by a motorcycle at Malpotchok of Bharatpur in Chitwan Friday. RSS reports from Chitwan.

According to Chitwan Police, the man who died was Kanchhalal Bamjan, 24, of Bharatpur-11. He was hit by a motorcycle Na 6 Pa 6436 heading for Anptari via bypass road from Bus Park, last night.


He died in Bharatpur Medical College while undergoing treatment. The motorcycle driver is at large leaving behind the motorcycle, and search is on
, police said.

COMMUNICATION MINISTER GUPTA FLIES FOR USA

Kathmandu, 29 Oct.: Minister for Information and Communications Jay Prakash Prasad Gupta has left for the US in connection with his personal business, RSS reports.

The prime minister has assigned Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Nandan Kumar Dutta to look after the Ministry of Information and Communications in his absence, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers said.

HOTLINE AT PM’S OFFICE SET UP
Kathmandu, 29 Oct.: Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has set up a hotline unit ´Hello Government´ to hear the public complaints with a view to promote the people-oriented administration, and the unit has already come into operation, RSS reports.

The unit will remain operational round-the-clock to register complaints about the government’s works or demands seeking government´s support.

It will also file complaints against irregularities in public services, said Assistant spokesperson of the office Jyoti Prasad Adhikari.

According to him, the members of the general public can file complaints or give information about any irregularities to the unit through fax, email, SMS and letters or call at hotline telephone numbers - 1111 and 1100.

The hotline unit has already started the services, said Adhikari.Meanwhile, the government has formed an investigation committee coordinated by the Secretary of Nepal Trust Jay Mukunda Khanal to investigate into the public complaints regarding road construction and maintenance inside Kathmandu Metropolis, Lalitpur Sub-metropolis, and Kalanki-Naubise road section and it has already started the investigation, said Assistant Spokesperson Adhikari.

DETAILS OF MAOIST CHIEF’S US VISIT

Kathmandu, 29 Ict.: Chairman of UCPN (Maoist) Pusjpa Kamal Dahal is leaving for the United States of America next week to garner the United Nations’ support and cooperation for the development of Lumbini, RSS reports.

A high-level delegation led by the Maoist chairman is leaving for New York, U.S. on November 5 to exchange views with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon regarding the world body’s role in developing Lumbini as the international hub of Buddhism and other forms of cooperation in that regard.

Lumbini is the birthplace of the Buddha, the apostle of peace, and is enlisted in the list of World Heritage Sites.

The government recently constituted a committee under the chairmanship of UCPN (Maoist) chairman and former Prime Minister Dahal for preparing a master plan for the all-round development of Lumbini as well as to promote it as a pilgrimage for the Buddhists all over the world.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers last week decided to send the Dahal-led committee on the development of Lumbini, to the United States. The delegation comprises Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mohammad Wakil Musalman, former ministers Dr. Minendra Rijal and Dr. Mangal Siddhi Manandhar and Manoj Bahadur Shrestha, a banker, from the private sector.

Prakash and Samir Dahal will also accompany the delegation as chairman Dahal’s private secretaries.The Maoist chairman’s personal secretary Dahal said most probably the Nepali delegation will hold talks with UN Secretary-General Ban on November 7.

It may be recalled that the UN Secretary-General during his meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on the sidelines of the 66th UN General Assembly meeting last month expressed his willingness to provide the possible cooperation for the development of Lumbini.
