TALKS OF SPLITS IN TWO LARGEST PARTIES

Kathmandu, 2 Oct.: Leaders of the country’s two largest parties are openly talking of preventing splits in the UCPN (Maoist) leading the government with five Madeshbadi parties and main opposition NC.
Talks of splits have surfaced with opposition in the party leading the government to a controversial 4-point agreement between UCPN (Maoist) and Madeshnadi parties.
The agreement-opposed by a faction led by First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya—is anti-national.
‘The party won’t split. Serious discussions are being held with Kiranji [Firce vice-chairman Mohan Badya].,” said Prachanda.
He called differences a ‘a wonder’ and added they’re a result of
‘extreme right and left leanings’.
Differences have swelled in NC over a decision to suspend executive bodies of four fraternal organizations and appoint ad hoc bodies to conduct elections for office bearers.
Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba says he’s being hounded in the party as the establishment faction of President Sushil Koirala; the three-time former prime minister said he’ll take a campaign for ‘internal democracy’ down to the ward level of villages after Dasain.
Both Koirala and Deuba have said publicly they’ll prevent a party split while pushing their agenda.
Kpirala, a council of Grija Prasad Koirala, accuses Deuba for
obstructing efforts to rejuvenate the party following his election as part chief one year ago.
Deuba charges Koirala for not implementing agreements he made with late Girija to re-unite NC and NC(Democratic) of Deuba nearly six years agol following a split; Deuba led NC(D) and charges the former prime minister and party chief for the first split.

secretary of CPN (United) by the 8th national general assembly.
A 45-member working committee has also been formed.
