FOREIGN EMPLOYMENT SERVICE
RULES BEING AMENDED
Kathmandu, 28 Oct 28: The Department of Foreign Employment is set to make policy reforms citing that Nepali nationals going for foreign employment are facing a litany of hassles, RSS reports.

Director General of the Department, Narendra Raj Sharma said the policy reforms would be finalized in a matter of few days after reaching agreement with the stakeholders.

Acknowledging that there are some policy level problems, Sharma said draconian laws were needed to check cheating in foreign employment.

He assured that the Nepalis going on foreign employment will not have to face any hassles in the coming days as the government is committed to strictly regulating the foreign employment service.

Director General Sharma said the main goal of the policy reforms is to dissuade the agents in the foreign employment sector as it is found that the agents dupe the people going on foreign employment.

Similarly, he said different provisions governing women from going on foreign employment would be made more stringent.

Director at the Department, Lalbabu Kawari said in the last week alone the Department held 20 foreign employment agents and handed them over to police for necessary action as they were found involved in cheating the people going for foreign employment.

Kawari also said that the Nepalese Ambassadors in different countries where Nepalis go for foreign employment have been directed to address the grievances of Nepali workers there in the context of complaints of Nepali women workers being forced into prostitution and subjected to extreme labour exploitation.
