Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: Five helicopters flew into the Everest
region from the capital Sunday morning to recue 3,500 stranded tourists.
Other choppers are waiting in the capital to pick up the tourists.

SPECIAL COMMITTEE FOR INTEGRATION OF MAOIST FIGHTERS MEETS SUNDAY
Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: The special committee meeting for
the integration, resettlement and supervision of 19,000 plus
Maoist fighters in being held Sunday.
The meeting is the third in a series after a seven-point
breakthrough agreement to conclude the delayed pace process and constitution drafting; the special committee is headed ex-officio
by the prime minister.
The seven-point agreement was signed by ruling coalition partners and two main opposition parties NC and UML.
Sunday’s committee meeting will finalize package for resettlement of fighters and endorse a schedule for implementation of a
schedule prepared by the committee secretariat for resettlement
and integation.
The fighters are being given a golden handshake from Rs.
600 000 one million.
The fighters in 28 camps and cantonments will be categorized
again from 16 November for implementation of the schedule by seven days/

PRELIMINARY SAARC MEETINGS START IN
MALDIVES FOR SOUTH ASIAN REGIONAL SUMMIT
Kathmandu, 6 Nov.: A meeting of SAARC division chief of eignt member nations of the eight-nation South Asian regional body started
Saturday at Addu City, Maldives.
Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai flies for Maldives Tuesday leading a 11-member delegation for the regional summit.
The cabinet has endorsed four agreements being signed at the summit.
The summit will be preceded by a conference of foreign secretaries and foreign ministers.
