FURTHER LDETAILS OF AMENDENT PROPOSAL OF INTERIM CONSTITUTION

MORE DETAILS OF PARLIAMENTARY MEET THAT WASN’T HELD

Kathmandu, 16 Nov.: Parliament meet was postponed until Friday after major parties disagreed on an experts committee or a state restructuring commission for recommending a federal structure.
Differences broke out of work procedures for the amendment of the 11th amendment of the interim constitution.
Parliament was scheduled to meet at 11 in the morning and a notice was posted late afternoon when there was no agreement between major parties—riling and opposition—to approve a government bill for the amendment.
“UML asked for time for amendment,” Barsha Man Pun of UCPN (Maoist) said.
“Both the experts and commission are only presenting suggestions. They will just be suggestions. The constitution is being drafted by the constituent assembly,” Bimalendra Nidhi of main opposition NC said after the parliament meeting was postponed.
‘The meeting was postponed not because of UML alone. Time was needed for discussions between three 3 parties. Discussions will be held tomorrow [Thursday],” Bhim Rawal of UML said..
Other smaller parties also registered protests against the proposed 11th amendment to the interim constitution and amendment proposals were registered.
Differences also surfaced at the Maoist emergency standing committee convened after a meet of the Big Three were differences first broke out Wednesday.
