ASSAULT ON RADIO JOURNALIST CONDEMNED
Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has condemned the attack on Radio Menchayam correspondent in Terhathum, Santosh Tigela by a group of inebriated persons on October 30, RSS reports..
Radio journalist Tigela was reportedly on his way home from the Katuwal hotel in Tundikhel of Myanglung when the incident took place.
The youths in an inebriated condition manhandled Tigela and threatened him to hang him to death, the FNJ has said.
The Federation has urged the authorities concerned to immediately arrest and take stern action against those involved in the incident, and also demanded serious attention of the Government towards the security of the media persons.
HUSBAND MURDERS WIFE
Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: A person murdered his own wife in Jhapa district, this morning.
Dhan Bahadur Darji of Dangibari murdered his own wife Ranmaya Darji, 50, according to the Area Police Office, Birtamod, RSS reports from Bhadraapur.
Dhan Bahadur is said to have killed his own wife due to family dispute.
Police have arrested him on the charge of murder.
SHARADA BBBARRAGE TO BE RENOVATED

Kathmandu, 2 Nov.: Renovation of the Nepal-India border bridge at Banabasa,aka, the Sharada barrage over the Mahakali River has begun, RSS reports from Kanchanpur..
The bridge was in a dilapidated condition since a long time, creating difficulty in transportation for the public.
The renovation work initiated by the Indian administration has begun with the renovation of the bridge pillars.
The barrage or bridge is usually closed for the public when water level rises above 80,000 cusec during the monsoon every year.
The barrage is some 100 years old and currently it has been closed for heavy vehicles since the condition of the bridge deteriorated. As a result, trade as well as revenue collection has been hampered, local authorities say.
