CA ENDORSES PRACHANDA SUB-COMMITTEE SCHEDULE TO PROMULGATE CONSTITUTION BY 27 MAY 2012

Kathmandu, 6 Dec. : The constitution assembly (CA) Tuesday unanimously approved a schedule to promulgate a delayed constitution to institutionalize a declared republic by 27 May 2012.
The 13-point schedule was finalized by a Maoist President Prachanda-led sub-committee with representatives of major political parties last week.
The sub-committee us tasked with responsibility to resolve differences on themes to be incorporated in a proposed constitution.
A main constitution drafting committee headed by Nilambar Acharya has already approved the schedule.

DEUBA CALLS FOR RESOLUTION OF DIFFERENCES DEMOCRATICALLY
Kathmandu, 6 Dec.: Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba said difference of opinion in his party should be settled in the democratic way, RSS reports from Kanchanpur.

Speaking at an annual general meeting of Nepal Press Union, Kanchanpur, here on Tuesday, he said the problems were raised when the leadership in the party did not move practicing democratic norms and values.

Deuba further said that the disputes appeared in the sister organisations of the party should be resolved in the respective way.

“It is not possible to write constitution until the sustainable peace was felt,” said former Prime Minister Deuba. He blamed the UCPN-Maoist for not showing problems and said the lasting peace is possible when the Maoist combatants leave the cantonments.
