UPDATE NC OBSTRUCTS PARLIAMENT SESSION PROTESTING CHITWAN PRISON ASSAULT
Kathmandu, 6 Dec.: Main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Tuesday obstructed the first session of parliament protesting Tuesday morning’s murderous assaults on party Chitwan district Tarun Dal leaders, including district President Shiba Paudel inside district jail at Bharatpur.
Chief Whip and Prasad Ghimire and leader Mahendra Yadav demanded a statement from Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar, who is also home minister.
Yadav charged the assault was premeditated with involvement of non-prisoners.

Shiba Paudel Chairman of NC Chitwan Tarun Dal, a youth wing of NC, was attacked and received serious head injuries while asleep in his prison cell
He was in judicial custody to investigate murder charges against a UML youth in a business deal.
Parliament met for the second session after he first round disruption.
A four-member investigation team headed by Secretary Shanker Koirala was formed to investigate the incident and report in seven days.
Five NC and UML cadres were injured
NC lawmaker Gagan Thapa told parliament citizens aren’t safe even inside a jail as Prime Minister Baburam Bhatarai and Gachehdhar hear him deliver a speech.
NC charged outsiders were hired for the prison assault.
Nepal’s top neurosurgeon Dr. Upendra Devkota was airlifted from the capital to Chitwan hospital for an emergency operation for head injuries sustained by Paudel.
