UCPN MAIOST SECRETARY GAJUREL SAYS NO NATIONAL GOVT.UNDER PM BHATTARAI

Kathmandu, 20 Dec.: Maoist Secretary CP Gaujurel, aligned with the
rebel Mohan Baidya group in ruling UCPN (Maoist) said Tuesday a national government can’t be formed under incumbent Prime Minister
Baburam Bhattarai who is second party-chairman.
Gajurel called for a national government under leadership of main opposition NC that’s seeking to lead a new government to replace the four-month Bhattarai administration.
The secretary most recently predicted an imminent split in
UCPN (Maoist).
He demanded government charge Tuesday as the Baidya faction
also pushed for a government formed under General Secretary Ram
Bahadur Thapa and appointment of Baidya, first vice-chairman acting party chief to replace Chairman Prachanda in new party power sharing agreement
Bhattarai himself said he’ll head a new government to complete the
delayed peace process and constitution drafting.
The differences in the country’s biggest party—also communist—
comes ahead of this week’s repeatedly postponed central committee meetings to discuss intra-party differences.
