headquarters Sunday.

LOCAL DEVELOPMENTAND FOREIGN MINISTRIES TO WORK IN TANDEM FOR CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Ministries of Local Development and Foreign Affairs have expressed commitment to help in the works of collecting public opinions for new constitution from March 6 to 28 as far as possible, RSS reports.

Minister for Local Development, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Durga Prasad Bhattarai expressed their commitment at today's meeting of Constituent Assembly, collection of public opinion and coordination committee.

Minister Rayamajhi and Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bhattarai were only present in the meeting as the committee had called prime minister and ministers of Home Affairs, Commerce and Supplies and Information and Communications, who are directly, concerned in the public opinion collection works.

During the meeting, Minister Rayamajhi made commitment to mobilize lower level bodies under the Ministry of Local Development to help the team assigned to collect the public opinions.

Similarly, Secretary Bhattarai said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide total support in the works of collecting public opinions of Nepalese living in foreign countries.

According to Secretary of the committee, Binod Kumar Adhikari, it is decided that discussion on the topic will be held by inviting Ministers for Education, Health and Population, and Science and Technology in the next meeting of the committee.

PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS COMPENSATION FOR KIN OF DEAD MIGRANT WORKERS

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Committee on Finance and Labor Relations of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the government to provide compensation at the earliest to the families of the deceased migrant workers who lost their lives abroad in course of job, RSS reports.

A meeting of the committee held today directed the government to provide the amount to the injured persons and families of the deceased soon in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Acting President of the committee, Shrawan Kumar Agrawal said the government should expedite the diplomatic initiatives to resolve the problems regarding the visa issuance to the Nepalis in Hong Kong.

Agrawal said the committee has given direction to the government to submit laws related to labor within January 29 in the House by making timely changes.

During the meeting, Minister for Labor and Transport, Sarita Giri expressed commitment to implementing the committee´s directives and to resolve the problems seen in foreign employment services.

NC LEADER KC ACCUSES MAOISTS

Kathmandu, 8 Dec.:: Central Member of the Nepali Congress Arjun Narsingh KC has said that the UCPN-Maoist was a hindrance to peace process and constitution drafting, RSS reports from Arghakanchi..

KC said the country has not got an outlet as the Maoists always reached agreements and did not follow it practically. He added that the new constitution would not be drafted until the UCPN-Maoist party has arms and PLA combatants.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the Nepal Press Union at Sandhikharka this morning, he said the NC is in favor of taking peace process to its logical conclusion but not to pull down the government.

The presidential system is republican itself, but it is not suitable in Nepal. So, the NC is against it as it creates autocracy, KC clarified.

KC said the NC would send Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel in the government as per the statute if the government led by the NC is formed.
