SCHEDULED MAOIST CENTRAL COMMITTEE POSTPONED

Kathmandu, 8 Jan. Sunday’s scheduled Maoist central committee meet was postponed until Monday to allow top leaders of the ruling UCPN (Maoist) to hold consultations to sort out differences in party policy.
Chairman Prachanda was scheduled to present an amended political programme with amendments to meet demand of First
Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya who presented a rival and radical
political programme for people’s war to attain a communist state
in the Asia heartland between India and China amid charges the establishment has abandoned a revolution adopting a rightist
political agenda.
Prachanda was presenting a proposal for approval of the committee for party unity, and completion or the delayed peace a constitution
drafting processes.
Prachanda and Baidya were also scheduled to respond to points
raised by central leaders at the extended two week committee
meet.
Amid internal differences, the communist party is encountering differences and difficulties completing a communist deology and takeover after jining the peace process five years with ndian and western support.

THEE FAMILY MEMBRS INJURED IN ATTACK BY WILD ELEPHANT HED ATTACK

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Three members of a family foraging in a
forest at Lakhapur in Jhapa were injured Sunday in an attack by
a herd of wild elephants that crossed into the eastern district from West Bengal.
Wild elephants killed three persons in the district last week.

THREE PERSONS PLANTING BOMBS ARRESTED IN JHAPA

Kathmandu, 8 Jan.: Three persons were arrested overnight as they planted bombs at a house in Birtamodh, Jhapa, overnight.
They are suspected of planting bombs elsewhere in the district as well.
A eastern hill organization seeking autonomy has lately been active in the area.
