BREAKTHROUGH AT NILAMBAR ACHARYA COMMITTEE MEET
Kathmandu, 17 Jan.: An agreement was reached at the main constitution rafting committee Tuesday to give voting rights to
18-year-olds.
Parliament will be mentioned as the legislature parliament
and the lower house of a bicameral legislature will be called the house of representatives in a new constitution that has to be promulgated by 28 May.
A Maoist faction renegaded on agreements; agreement came
at the fourth meeting of the committee headed by Nilambar Acharya

SETTLERS ALONG BAGMATI CALL STRIKE LARGELY IGNORED
Kathmandu, 17 Jan. A front of illegal setters called a strike in the Valley to oppose their eviction along the Bagmati river Tuesday.
The strike call had minimal response.
Government said it’s determined to go ahead with the evictions as the settlers demanded alternative spots to construct settlements.
There are more than 600 settlements along the river that runs through the Valley.
More than 300persons were arrested in the capital land Bhaktapur
during the strike.

SUN SHINES OVER VALLEY
Kathmandu, 17 Jan.: Valley residents Tuesday got a respite from the cold wave that hit the Valley and the rest of the country since the weekend.
Clouds lifted over the Valley for the first time in two days as
residents got respite from cold in two days.
