DIFFERENCES ON CONSTITUTION PERSIST WITH BIG THREE
Kathmandu, 2 Jan. A meeting of the Big Three Sunday to resolve differences on themes to be included in a constitution was inconclusive the first round as a second round meeting was scheduled later in the day.
Differences were referred to the top leaders by the Prachanda sub-committee to resolve differences on subjects to be included in a basis law by 28 May.
Differences persisted at the main constitution drafting committee chaired by NilambarAcharya.
Differences on form of governance, election system and other themes persisted despite positive references by the Maoist Chairman to the work of the subs-committee under him.
Acharya has given the sub-committee until Monday to resolve persisting differences.
The Acharya committee meets gain Tuesday to work out details and if resolution can’t be resolved by Wednesday a report will be sent to the constituent assembly where differences will have to be resolved by majority voting.
The Prachanda sub-committee missed 30 December deadline to resolve differences.

CAPITAL GETS FIRST WINTER RAIN
Kathmandu, 2 Jan. The capital got its first winter rain Sunday night amid a cold and foggy day
The maximum fell to 14 Degrees Celsius but the minimum temperature was 3.3 degrees Celsius.
Daman to the West of the capital experienced snowfall.
The cold spell brought winter showers and snowfall to the Himalayan and hill regions and the biting cold didn’t spare terai residents where more than 40 dies last month in a cold wave.
The sun broke through the cloud cover in the capital Monday bringing some relief.
