MAOISTS CONTNE EFFORT AT PARTY UNITY

ANOTHER EFFORT TO CONVENE MEET OF MAOIST OFFICE BEARERS

Kathmandu, 12 Jan. : Another effort will be made Thursday to
convene a meeting of UCPN (Maoist) office bearers to finalize a unified political proposal of Chairman Prachanda to unite the party.
The chairman has been assigned responsibility to incorporate ideas of radical First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya for a people’s war to establish a communist state in Nepal in the heartland of Asia between India and China.
Baidya challenged a softer political approach of Prachanda at the extended central committee where the chairman’s proposal for party unity, peace and constitution for the country couldn’t be approved because of deep ideological differences.
The meeting of party office bearers was to approve the amended
Prachanda political proposal for adoption by the central committee whose meetings have been repeatedly postponed amid differences.
The committee was scheduled to meet Tuesday and Wednesday.
Top leaders, including the party chief Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Baidya and other leaders spent the whole day Wednesday attempting to find unify the party
Prachanda proposed the establishment faction induct Baidya supporters in government for a united party as the first vice-chairman demanded the resignation of the premier.

SENIOR MAOIST LEADER DEAD

Kathmandu, 12 Jan.: Senior Maoist leader Bhakta Bahadur Shrestha died overnight after he slipped and fell at his home in Chitwaning.
He died while being rushed to the capital for treatment.
Shrestha,78, was advisor of Maoist advisory council and general
Secretary.
Maoist leaders are paying their last respect to Shrestha at the party office in the capital before cremation Thursday.
