RPP-NEPAL CELEBRATES KING PRITHVI NARAYAN SHAH’S 290TH BIRTHDAY UPDATE
Kathmandu, 11 Jan.: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) hosted a reception on the occasion of the 290th Prithvi Jayanti or the birth anniversary of the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah here on Wednesday, RSS reports.
On the occasion, Party Chairman Kamal Thapa stressed the need of remembering the contribution of the late Shah to the unification of Nepal that was divided into many principalities at that time.
Calling for marking the 27th day in the Nepali month of Poush (the birthday of the late king Shah) as the National Unification Day and declaring it a public holiday on this occasion, Mr. Thapa suggested printing the image of the late Shah in the bank notes.
"Presently, the national unity is under threat for many reasons," he said, urging the political parties to rise above partisan interests and move ahead together to safeguard the national integrity.

ISRAELTO CONTINUE SUPPOT FOR DEVELOPMENT
Kathmandu, 11 Jan.: Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Hanan Godar has expressed the commitment on behalf of his country to continue support to Nepal's development endeavours, RSS reports.

Speaking at a press conference organised here on Wednesday to shed light on the activities of the Israeli Embassy, he said in the past 50 years Israel has been providing support to Nepal's education, health, agriculture, irrigation, community development and technology sector, and said the support would continue in the future too.

Saying that more than 1,600 Nepalis have been trained from different Israeli institutions, he expressed the confidence that the skill thus gained was being used for the overall development of Nepal.

Referring to a point, Ambassador Godar on the occasion said his Government was committed to maintain peace in the Middle-east, but the problem has not been resolved as the neighbours have not taken it seriously.
