SECRETARY CLAIMS GOVT.IRREGULARITY IN HIS RETIREMENT
Kathmandu, 5 Jan.: Outgoing Secretary at the Ministry of Education Shankar Prasad Pandey has blamed that the government transferred him one month before his retirement at the time when he started initiatives to stop corruption in the education sector, RSS reports.
At a programme organised here on Thursday by the Education Journalists' Group, Pandey said he tendered his resignation from the post after the government suddenly transferred him at a time when he was involved in ending arrears and corruption in the education sector.
Pandey tendered his resignation without accepting transfer letter as the government transferred him to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers a month earlier than his retirement.
Pandey said administrative sector will be in disarray due to the tendency of giving priority to one's kith and kin during transfers of officials, and made it clear that he had no difference of opinion with Minister for Education, Dinanath Sharma.
He also recalled that a joint secretary was transferred when he was on a visit to Paris.
Transfers should not be imposed on employees forcefully, said Pandey, adding he did not comprehend why he was transferred for nine times during a four year period.
