INCREASING ABDUCTION CASES IN SIRAHA
Kathmandu, 16 Feb.: Incidents of abduction from various parts of Siraha district have been on the rise of late, RSS reports from Lahan.
Another person has been abducted by unidentified group from Siraha district headquarters Siraha on Monday.
It is reported that an unknown group kidnapped Deependara Chaudhary (28) known to be Deeppu of Gamhariya Maheshpur-9 of Siraha.
He was kidnapped by the group while returning home after shutting down own shop at Ghurami Chowk on Monday evening, informed Bechu Chaudhary, father of Deependra.
The kidnappers also took away the motorbike he was riding, he further informed, adding the abductors had demanded ransom worth Rs. 2.5 million by using the mobile of his son.
Chaudhary has urged human rights activists, media persons and police administration to take initiative for the safe and unconditional release of his son.

DETAILS OF TALKS BETWEEN PRESIDENT AND 3 P[ARTY LEADERS

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav Wednesday drew the attention of the political parties to arrive at some agreement to expedite the peace and constitution writing processes as the deadline for the tasks was approaching.
At the meeting held at the Presidential Palace, Shital Niwas, the head of the state urged the chiefs of the major three parties to work harder so that the new constitution is promulgated within the current deadline of the Constituent Assembly term, May 27.
The President made this request with UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal in their joint meeting with the President.
According to President’s press advisor Rajendra Dahal, the President also showed his concern about the bills related to anti-money laundering being presented in the parliament.
The President also enquired the leaders about latest achievement in constitution writing, political situation, departure of the Maoist PLA combatants who had opted for voluntary retirement and the progress pertinent to army integration process.
During the discussions, President Dr Yadav also raised issues related to formation of the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) and dispute over the reports presented by the SRC and the reactions of the parties to the SRC reports.
"Given this situation, to whom the people can rely?" press advisor Dahal quoted President Dr Yadav as telling the leaders, "Instead of narrowing down the confusion, there are instances that propel uncertainty."
Showing his concern to anti-national expressions from responsible leaders of the parties and deforestation and resultant devastation of Chure forest area in the protection of political parties, the President urged the leaders to be sensitive to such serious issues.
In response, the leaders expressed their commitment to moving ahead as they were equally worried about conclusion of peace and constitution building processes. They said that they had yet to forge consensus on issues like state restructuring, electoral system, judicial system and form of governance.
Talking briefly to the media persons after the meeting, UML chief Khanal said that the president expressed his worry over the delay in peace and constitution writing processes and drew the attention of the leaders to the delay.

UCPN (Maoist) TO SPEED UP ARMY INTEGRATION PROCESS

The general staff meeting of the UCPN-Maoist Wednesday decided to give momentum to the stalled army integration process, The Rising Nepal reports.
The meeting held at the party headquarters at Peris Danda on Wednesday, shortly after the completion of the task of bidding farewell to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), decided to move ahead with army integration by striking a consensus with other political parties.
Speaking with the reporters, chief of PLA Nanda Kishor Pun ‘Pasang said that the meeting reviewed the completed tasks of bidding farewell to PLA personnel who opted for voluntary retirement.
The party decided that the cheque distribution to PLA opting for voluntary retirement was quite successful, Pun said.
Pun said that Wednesday’s meeting decided to initiate the task of army integration consulting with other political parties.
"The Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) will move the task of army integration ahead soon as its chapter has just been initiated," he said.
Speaking with The Rising Nepal, First Division Commander of Chulachuli, Ilam, Yam Bahadur Adhikari said that the meeting discussed all completed tasks of army integration, including the leadership of the supposed directorate of the to-be integrated army.
However, Adhikari confirmed that no tangible decision was been made in the meeting.
"The meeting reiterated that Maoists should have the second command of the directorate to be formed," Adhikari said.
All seven commanders of the divisions and three deputy commanders were present at the meeting.
