Kathmandu, 10 Feb.; Former Rastriya Panchayat Member Dambar Bam passed away on Friday morning. He was 94, RSS reports.
Although Bam, a resident of Hat VDC- 9, had not fallen ill, he died as he refused to eat for the past one month, family said. He was the first to represent at the Rastriya Panchayat, the then parliament, from the remote Purchaudi area.
He was the founder and first headmaster of Dileswori Adhar High School, the only school of two dozen VDCs of Purchaudi area established in 1948.
Bam was renowned as a social worker of the Purchaudi area as he established the school whose Class 8 was recognised equivalent to present day SLC in 1963.
His final rites will be performed at local Ratashila of Tribeni.
Dileswori Higher Secondary School and Purchaudi Multiple Campus were closed to mourn his death, and tribute will be paid to him on Sunday, said teacher Sher Singh Mahara.
