CHINA SEEKS HELP IN HALTING TIBETAN FLIGHT THROUGH NEPAL
Kathmandu, 18 Feb.: Hailing Nepal's long-standing One-China policy, a visiting Chinese professor from Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) requested Nepal not to support the illegal immigrants from Tibet., The Kathmandu Post reports

Prof Wei Gang, the director of Contemporary Tibet Studies Institute, who is currently in Kathmandu, said illegal migration from Tibet has had multiple effects.
Hundreds of Tibetans cross the Nepal-China border every year to visit Dharmashala and other places.
“The persons who cross the border illegally should not be active in politics,” he said, during an interaction with journalists on Thursday.
Gang said Beijing and TAR are tying their best to uplift the quality of life in Tibet by spending billions of dollars on various infrastructure and social welfare programmes.
He also accused the western media of spreading propaganda against Tibet and backing Dalai Lama.
“Like political campaigners against China during the cold war era, the western media have lost their neutrality and just listened to what Dharmashala says,” Gang said. “Many people listen to one-sided story but do not want to know the real situation inside Tibet.”
Beijing and TAR want to develop Tibet as a global tourist hotspot, and the current 12th year plan has allocated billions of Yuan to build infrastructure there. “Last year eight million tourists visited Tibet which is again in upward trajectory.”
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yang Houlan claimed that some international forces are behind fueling the Tibetan movement.
“Some international forces trying to affect good relations between the two countries (Nepal and China),” said Yang. Nepalis have very clear picture about the Tibetans and cooperation within Nepal is very cordial, said Yang.
