NC PARLIAMENTARY PARTY TO MEET

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: Main opposition NC parliamentary party meets Wednesday to discuss delays in concluding the peace process and drafting aa constitution.
Spokesman Nabindra Raj Joshi said the meeting will also discuss form of government and a proposed federal structure over which there are differences between major players.
The party will also take controversial statements of Prime Minister
Baburam Bhattarai who said the country ‘be merged’ or even ‘submerged’ with fast pace of economic development of Nepal’s largest
neighbours India and China and Communication Minister Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta who threatened of severance of terai ties with the capital.
The party is discussing an official stance of the controversial
issues.

CONSTITUTION DRAFTING COMMITTEE MEETS ONLY
BRIEFLY

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: In the absence of Maoist Chairman Prachanda, the main constitution drafting committee headed by Nilambar Acharya
met only for 30 minutes and adjourned until Friday.
The Maoist chief was preoccupied at a meeting with a the president.
NC parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Paudel and UML
senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal spoke briefly at a meeting that was to endorse agreements on themes for incorporation in a constitution tobe promulgated by 28 May.
The committee met for the first time after a second deadline was
missed to resolve differences on themes to be included in a basic law.

NEPALI KILLED IN USA VEHICULAR ACCIDENT

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: Rajendra Basnet,45, died Tuesday in a vehicular accident in died in in New Jersey.

Basnet was hit while crossing a road.

He’s survived by a wife and daughter.

TIGERS IN-CHARGE ARRESTED

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: Madesh Mukti Tigers Banke in-charge Hridhaya Narayan Singh and Akil Shesh of Banke were arrested by police Tuesday.
Singh was arrested from his home in Nepalgunj with Shesh with bullets, receipt pads, five mobiles and pamphlets.

PABSON CONVENTION 18 FEB.
Kathmandu, 15 Feb.:: The 11th national general convention of Private and Boarding Schools Organization of Nepal (PABSON) is taking place on February 18, RSS reports.

The slogan of the two-day general convention to be held at GEMS in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur is: 'Peace and Creation-Basis of Education; Equal Rights for All in Attaining Quality Education'.

Major agendas to be discussed during the general convention include declaration of private school education act,enforcement of declaration of schools as peace zone,separate concept regarding registration of private schools under company act, and renewal of schools for the last time, stated a press release issued by PABSON.

At a press conference organized here on Tuesday to make public the decision, PABSON Chairperson Rajesh Khadka stressed the need to incorporate private schools under the broader education act and expressed grief for the non-implementation of declaration of school as peace zone.

As many as 1,700 representatives from 68 districts would take part in the general convention.

STRIKE IN DHAULAGIRI ZONE

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: Normal life in Dhaulagiri zone has been affected since this morning due to strike imposed by Dhaulagiri Bus Entrepreneurs Committee and Dhaulagiri Jeep Entrepreneurs Committee to protest against the formation of separate committee by vehicle entrepreneurs of Burtibang, RSS reports from Baglung..

The vehicle entrepreneurs had come to agitation following the registration of different committee at the Baglung District Administration Office on Monday.

There has been no vehicular movement in any places of Dhaulagiri zone since this morning due to bandh enforced by transport operators.

Commuters have been bearing the brunt of bandh with the vehicular movement brought to standstill in four districts of Dhaulagiri including Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang.

CHINESE LANGUAGE GETTING POPULAR

Kathmandu, 15 Feb.: The Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB), Sanothimi is all-equipped to run Chinese language study from the upcoming educational year, RSS reports from Bhaktapur.

Number of students aspiring to learn Chinese language has been gradually increasing, and owing to that preparations are being made to operate Chinese language study, informed Director of HSEB, Division of Curriculum Development and Training, Ramchandra Pandey.

He further informed the task of collecting materials on Chinese language and formation of subject committee for the curriculum development is being undertaken.

The HSEB is also mulling to run classes on sports science, monastery education, study of Limbu and Tamang languages and vocational subjects, he added.

ONLY RAILWAY SERVICE SHUT DOWN

Kathmandu,.15 Feb : The only railway service in Nepal has been shut for indefinite period in protest of reinstatement of Suresh Yadav to the post of General Manager in Nepal Railway Service, RSS reports from Janakpurdham.

Employees Unions associated to Railway Service have closed down the service.

Earlier, employees have been on agitation demanding withdrawal of decision to reinstate Yadav saying he was corrupt.
