TEACHERS CLOSE DOWN SCHOOLS IN PROTEST

Kathmandu, 27 Feb.: Thousands of teachers nation-wide Monday closed down community and private schools Monday protesting what
they called use of force one day earlier.
Teachers and management of schools were pushing a set of 35 demands which haven’t been met for years by government relating to perks.

13 STUDENT UNIONS PLAN PROTESTS AGAINST HIKE
IN POL PRICES

Kathmandu, 27 Feb.: Thirteen student unions affiliated with political parties, including Maoists, began consultations Monday to prepare protests against government in prices in petrol, kerosene and aviation.
Prices were hiked for the second time in two months citing
among other reasons need to meet increasing losses on state monopoly Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) that imports products solely from
India.
Supply in the market has been erratic with India refusing to supply products without settlement of bills.
People have been inconvenienced with irregular supply with the concerned Maoist minister blaming officials for the erratic supply.
Nepal Students’ Union affiliated with main opposition NC is presenting a memorandum to Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai protesting the lprice hike and irregular supply and shortage in the market.
