UML CHAIRMAN KHANAL’S POLITICAL REPORT APPROVED

Kathmandu, 17 Feb.: UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal’s political
report was approved by Thursday by the party’s central committee
with suggestions for presentation at the two-day conference of representatives of the council in the capital beginning 4 March.
The second largest opposition party said Maoists and government
would be responsible of Nepal was blacklisted internationally for not implementing anti-money laundering bills.
The party called for parliamentary approval of three bills , including an extradition treaty, opposed by a hard-line section of ruling UCPN (Maoist)
The committee meet continues.

SADHUS, NAKED FAKIRS ARRIVE FOR SHIVA RATRI

Kathmandu, 17 Feb.: More than 1,200 sadhus and naked fakirs
have arrived and are camped at Pashuatinath Temple complex for
Monday’s Shiva Ratri.
Smell of marijuana pervades around the holiest Hindu temple.
An estimated 800,000 devotees from home and abroad are expected to bathe and worship this year at the temple.

EMERGENCY DECLARED IN FOUR EASTERN DISTRICTS WHEE BIRD FLU HAS BROKEN OUT DECLARED

Kathmandu, 17 Feb.: In delayed reaction, the cabinet Thursday
declared emergency in four eastern districts where bird flu broke out this month.
The epidemic that first surfaced in Nepal 2009 in Jhapa broke out in 2012 in Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar and Jhapa.
Traces of the virus were found in Sunsari this week after the districts
were declared epidemic free following an eradication campaign.

PRESIDENT LAUNCHES JOURNALIST MEET

Kathmandu, 17 Feb.: President DR. Ram Baran Yadav Thursday inaugurated an annual conference of Asian News Network (ANN).
The two-day meet is jointly sponsored by ANN and Konrad Adenauer Shiftung.
“Media has a crucial role to emphasize the issues of climate change and its impact in the region,” the president said inaugurating the conference.

CAPITAL’S MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FRDAY MORNING 5.6 DEGREES CELSIUS

Kathmandu, 17 Feb.: Minimum temperature recorded Friday morning in the capital was 5.6 degrees Celsius.
Mercury is expected to rise to 22 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
