UPDATE CABINET ONLY PUTS ON HOLD CABINET DECISION TO SEIZE ASSETS

CABINET ONLY PUTS ON HOLD CABINET DECISION
TO SEIZE ASSETS UPDATE

Kathmandu, 9 Feb. : A cabinet meeting Thursday morning only
decided to ‘put on hold’ a cabinet decision to legalize assets seized by parallel Maoist bodies during a 10-year insurgency even after
Wednesday’s assurance to opposition to overturn a cabinet
decision to break an impasse.
A discussion will be held with parties, Maoist Minister Top
Bahadur Rayamajhi said adding supreme court directed not to
implement a cabinet decision.
The opposition will discuss the cabinet decision before parliament’ scheduled session at three in the afternoon.
Opposition is most likely reject the government move dashing any hope of a breakthrough.
Maoists have buried their differences in the last two weeks and are pushing party interests in government sidelining peace and constitution
drafting.
It would have been difficult for Prime Minister Baburam
Bhattarai bypass the hard-line faction in his party to accommodate opposition.
Bhattarai opted to join hands with the Mohan Baidhya faction in the party.
