13 MAOIST CAMPS BIENG CLOSED DOWN THURSDAY

MAOIST, NC MEET

Kathmandu, 8 March: One day after NC issued an ultimatum to Maoists leading the government to complete a delayed peace process by one
week, the ruling party leaders and main opposition leadership held talks Thursday to break a deadlock to complete the peace process and constitution drafting.
The dialogue is being held at the residence of NC President Sushil
Koirala who returned to the capital from Biratnagar overnight after
attending a party eastern regional meet to discuss a new federal structure, peace structure and reinvigorate the party.
NC has been reduced to status of a main opposition losing its
dominant position in Nepali politics to Maoists following parliamentary/constituent assembly elections in 2008.
Meanwhile, a scheduled summit of the BIG Three won’t be held
Thursday as scheduled, NC leader Arjun Narshingj KC said.
The meeting was to discuss NC proposal for establishment of two
commissions on truth and reconciliation and disappearances to complete a peace process.
