TOURISM MINISTER LOKENDRA BISTA RESUMES JOURNEY TO BERLIN UPDATE
Kathmandu, 7 March: Tourism Minister Lokendra Bista and wife, Ganga,
boarded a flight for Frankfurt en route Berlin Wednesday at Abu Dhabi international airport to attend a tourism promotional fair resumed in the German capital.
Bista obtained a German visa to resume the flight after spending two nights at
the airport.
Immigration officials first detained the minister for traveling without a valid visa and later put him at a transit hotel for two nights.
Bista resumed the journey to Germany at 4 PM Nepal time.
The incident insulted the country and has come as a personal embarrassment for
the tourism minister who looks after tourists but himself traveled without a
passport.
The ministry formed a four-member probe team to probe the incident and report
in one week.
Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Lila Mani Pokhrel, Home Secretary Sunil Jung Rana and two othres are probe team members.
