PM WON’T RESIGN SAYS AIDE UPDATE
Kathmandu, 17 March: Devendra Paudel, political advisor of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Saturday said the government chief won’t oblige his critics by resigning.
Paudel said this hours after a party faction of Mohan Baidya announced protests
to pull down the government pressing five demands .
Paudel said the demand was a ‘conspiracy’ and ‘drag the country into conflict’.
He called the demand ‘irresponsible and immature”.

PM SUMMONED BY PARLIAMENTARY
COMMITTEE
Kathmandu, 17 March: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has been summoned
by parliament’s state affairs committee Wednesday to be quizzed on the release of Rs.20 million to Samair Dahal, son of ,Maoist Chairman and colleagues to climb the 8848 meters high Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, this spring.
The release of government by a government headed by Maoists committee
Political parties, including NC and UML, have opposed release of government
funds to party activists.
The two parties have threatened to come out of the streets to force government to overturn the decision.
Caustic remarks have been made about the ‘rise of the son” and ‘new feudalism”.

COLLECTION OF GOVT. REVENUE BELOW TARGET
Kathmandu, 17 March: Collection of government revenue in the first eight months was below target.
Altogether 144.46 billion was collect in the eight weeks of the current fiscal year 2067/68—Rs.4 billion short of target.
During the period, only 21.21 percent or Rs.15.15.39 billion of the allocated
money was spent in the capital expenditure.
