Kathamandu, 18 March: Senior Vice-chairman of the UCPN-Maoist Mohan Baidya 'Kiran' has said that he was not struggling to become the prime minister in the present context, RSS reports from Janakpurdham...
Speaking at a news conference organised by the Revolutionary Journalists Association, Dhanusha chapter, here on Sunday, Baidya said personally I have not protested the present government led by party's another Vice-chairman Baburam Bhattarai.
"New constitution is the dream of martyrs and common people. People will take to the streets if conspiracies are hatched in constitution making process and they are betrayed," the Maoist hardliner warned.
Responding to a query, the Maoist vice-chairman said he was not in favor of the president's rule this time, adding that imagining it under the present circumstances was to give birth to an authoritarian ruler.
Baidya said, "National unity government is the need of the hour. UCPN-Maoist will have a first claim to lead such a government. But, the party is open for other party's leadership as well if our claim is not materialised."
He also accused the present government of being against federalism and made it clear that constitution sans federalism was not acceptable to his party.
