SUSHIL KOIRALA CLAIMS GOVT.LEADERSHIP
Kathmandu, 10 March: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has said the government would be changed if it failed to conclude the peace process within the slated time, RSS reports from Bhadrapuir..

Talking to journalists at the Bhadrapur Airport on Saturday, he said though his party had adopted maximum flexibility for concluding the peace process on time, all efforts went in vain due to the Maoist obstructions.

Accusing the UCPN-Maoist of creating hurdles against the seven-point agreement, leader Koirala said the Nepali Congress was always committed to the democratic norms and values.

Responding to a query of journalists, he claimed that now his party should get the opportunity to lead the government since the UCPN-Maoist and the CPN-UML have already got that chance, he added.

Regarding the forms of governance, the NC President said the Prime Ministerial system with the prime minister elected from the Legislature-Parliament would be better system for the country as many examples have shown that the President directly elected by the people have turned autocratic.

He refuted the promulgation of new constitution without federalism and urged not to run after such rumors. He added that the complete constitution will be promulgated within the timeframe if the Unified CPN-Maoist was committed for peace and constitution writing processes.

In a different note, he said the NC has been working to strengthen the party organisation in the Tarai, saying it is the right time for this as the Madhesi parties could not work as per the public mandate.
