GOVT. CEATES NEW CONROVERSY AFTER MOVE TO SAVE GOVT.

DECISION TO GIVE CITIZENSHIP TO CHILDREN ON NATURALIZED
CITIZENS CREATES CONTROVERSY
Kathmandu, 9 March: A decision of Maoists and five Madeshbadi parties in
government Thursday to amend the constitution to give citizenship to children to naturalized citizens was vehemently opposed by opposition parties, including NC and UML.
Hard-lone faction of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai also opposed the decision as a move o save the embattled government.
The supreme cot had earlier asked government not to implement the decision.

CIAA STOPS MASS TRANSFERS OF OFFICIALS
Kathmandu, 9 March: CIAA Friday ordered government to stop the February mass transfer of 1,871 government of various ranks calling the move of the ministry of general administration irregular .
General Administration Minister Ram Kumar Yadav' recommended the transfers to the cabinet last month.
CIAA decision was sent to the Office of the Prime Minister and the
chief secretary for follow-up action.
