BIG THREE AGREE TO CONVENE PRACHANDA SUB-COMMITTEE AND
SPECIAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS UPDATE

Kathmandu, 11 March: A meeting of the Big Three agreed Sunday to convene Monday a meeting of a Prachanda sub-committee empowered to resolve thematic
differences to include related article in a constitution to be promulgated 28 May.
The meeting of UCPN (Maoist), NC and Maoists also agreed to calla meeting of a special headed ex-officio by the prime minster to take integration of former Maoist
fighters in a state army and related issues.
“The seven-point agreement will be the basis for any understanding,” UML
Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said after the meeting.
Maoists have been demanding rank of brigadier general from among 6,500 fighters to join Nepal Army—a demand rejected by opposition NC and UML who charge
The party leading government for presenting new demands for concluding a peace agreement.
‘The special commitee will discuss not only integration but other issues as well,”
NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel, who mentioned return of seized assets by Maoists and other issues.
The special committee is charged with responsibility for integration and
supervision of Maoist fighters only.
The parties are trying to meet a deadline to completed the twin tasks of peace process and constitution drafting.

INDIA LOSE TO PHILIPPINES

Kathmandu, 11 March: India lost 2-0 to Philippines in a AFC Challenge Cup 2012 group match in the Nepali capital Sunday.
India lost both its matches played so far.
North Korea became the first country to qualify for the semi-final gaining six points from two wins.
India is out of the tournament.
