NO CASUALTIES IN JHAPA BHUTANESE REFUGEE CAMP FIRE
Kathmandu, 2 March:: A huge loss incurred when fire that broke out at Bhutanese camp in Beldangi, Jhapa at 12.30 last night [Friday morning] ravaged the structures, RSS reports from Bhadrapur..

The fire gutted altogether 120 huts at the camp. Some 20 huts were demolished to bring the fire under control, informed Armed Police Base Camp in Beldangi.

The fire broke out from the hut owned by Ramchandra Baskota at Beldangi-2, Sector-4.

It has been brought under control at 4.30 this morning with the help of fire engines from Itahari, Damak and Bhadrapur. Locals and Armed Police personnel joined hands to douse the fire.

Primary speculation is that loss worth tens of thousands rupees has been incurred due to the incident

CORRUPT WILL BE PUNISHED ASSURES PM

Kathmandu, 2 March: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that peace and good governance would not be maintained until the level of corruption was brought to down, RSS reports from Sindhulimadi.

"Anyone involved in corruption charges by misusing the State coffers will be booked at any expense. The government will not let scot free to corrupt figures either they are under the political protection or others," the Prime Minister said Friday inaugurating the 17th District Council of Sindhuli.

In a separate context, the Prime Minister said the final draft of constitution would be prepared by mid-March after completing the major tasks of peace and constitution writing processes based on political consensus.

The Maoist vice-chairman also pledged to draft the constitution and complete the peace process complying with the people´s expectations.

At the program, Local Development Officer of Sindhuli, Ganesh Gyawali proposed Rs 2.10 billion plus budget for the fiscal year
2069/70.

SRI LANKAN PRESIDENT CONDOLES BUDDHIST MONK’S DEATH
Kathmandu, 2 March 2: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister DM Jayaratne expressed grief over the sudden demise of Upa Sanga Nayaka, Kumar Kasyap, RSS reports.

In a condolence message, President Rajapaksa while recalling the titles of Viswokeerti Srishasan Shivana and Bidhyalankar Padmabhushan being conferred on Kashyap by Sri Lanka Amarpur Mahanikaya and Bidhyalankar Pirivena has said that his demise has caused loss to both Sri Lanka and Nepal and also to the international Buddhist community.

In a separate condolence message sent by the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, it is stated that most venerable Kumar Kashyap had devoted his time and energy for the propagation of Theravada Buddhism in Nepal and other countries and hailed his contribution to consolidate religious and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Likewise, the Thai Association has also expressed grief on the demise of Kashyap.

ATTEMPT TO DIVIDE IN MADESH WARNS REGIONAL LEADER
Kathmandu, 2 March:: Chairman of Madhesh Tarai Forum Amar Yadav has warned not to demarcate the inner Terai inside Madhes, RSS reports from Birgunj.
Speaking at a programme organised by Reporter's Club, Parsa on Friday, Yadav said it was unfortunate that attempts were being made to split the entire Madhes region into the 'eastern' and 'western' Madhes.
He stressed that the new constitution should ensure the rights of the Madhesis along with the guarantee of a Madhes state and added that there should be respectful representation of the Madhesis into the Nepal Army.
Yadav also underscored the need of eliminating all sorts of 'discriminations' against the 'Madhesi people'.
Urging the government to maintain peace, security and good governance in the country, he added that the constitution should be promulgated on the slated timeframe.
He further said there should be high-level of coordination and unity among all the political parties for the same.

DIVORCE CAES RISE IN JHAPA REFUGEE CAMPS
Kathmandu, 2 March: Cases of divorce in Bhutanese refugees' camps are on the rise following their rehabilitation in the third countries, RSS reports from Damak..

Nepal Bar Association, Jhapa Chapter, has been delivering free legal assistance to the needy people in association with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Nepal Bar Association, Jhapa Chapter, has been conducting free legal service since 2003.
Director of the Programme, advocate Bhupal Kattel said that as many as 1,000 such cases have been registered in the court during eight years' period. During the current fiscal year, some two dozen cases belonging to different issues have been registered so far.
Kattel said that of the total cases, 75 per cent belong to divorce. "Such cases are on the rise due to trend of polygamy and migration to the third countries--especially the U.S.A and Canada."
It is said that the cases of divorce were rising as the partners differed over the migration process to the third countries.
Meanwhile, some 60 refugees residing in different camps of Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari and other districts are languishing in different jails in connection to criminal charges, advocate Basanta Nepal said.
Some 200 advocates have been deployed by Nepal Bar Association to oversee the cases pertaining to such cases
