WARNING AGAINST A CONSTITUTIONAL COURT UPDATE
Kathmandu, 27 March: Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi Tuesday warned a constitutional court in a federal system would lead to disputes and create problems.
He warned against establishing of such a court in a federal system
at a meeting of political parties and judges and ,lawyers.
Parties said the suggestion will be taken at a Prachanda
sib-committee discussing differences on themes for inclusion in a
constitution Wednesday.

MAOIST CENTRAL COMMITTEE MET DEFERRED UNTIL WEDNESDAY
Kathmandu, 27 March: The UCPN (Maoist) Central Committee (CC) meeting scheduled for today has been postponed citing busy schedule of the party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal., Greatwayonline.comreports.
The date for the next CC meet is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.
The meeting was called to discuss the internal dynamics inside the party after the hardliner faction publicly announced its programme of struggle against the incumbent Maoist-led government.

CAUTION CAMPAIGN AGAINST BIRD FLU IN LALITPUR
Kathmandu, 27 March: The District Public Health Office, Lalitpur has launched a month-long 'caution programme' against bird flu, RSS reports from Lalitpur.

Avian influenza was confirmed in a poultry farm at Sainbu in the district few days back.

The District Public Health Office has started conducting a public awareness raising campaign at the doorsteps of the people living in the three kilometers radius of the infected area.

Under the public awareness campaign, staff at the District Public Health Office have been making door-to-door visits in the area, telling locals on protection and prevention from H5 N1, the virus that causes bird flu.

They have been also teaching the people about the safe way of disposing infected fowls.

Some 8,574 chicks were culled and 1,600 eggs were destroyed at two poultry farms in Sainbu after the discovery of bird flu.

SUSPECTED INDIAN MAOISTS AMBUSH PATROL, KILL AT 13 POLICEMEN
Kathmandu, 27 March: A police official says suspected Maoist rebels
have ambushed a patrol team in western India, killing at least 13 paramilitary policemen, AP
Reports from New Delhi..

The official says the policemen were travelling through a densely forested area in Maharashtra state on Tuesday when the rebels set off a land mine, blowing up the vehicle.

The official said another 15 policemen were wounded in the powerful blast. The official was speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media.
