The number of animals that are only found in the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in Nepal has increased. Twenty-two more wild buffaloes were counted this time compared to their population last year.

According to the wildlife reserve office, there were as many as 219 wild buffaloes in 2009. The number increased to 237 last year and it increased to 259 this year, said Warden Ashok Kumar Ram.

Ram said the number increased when the reserve's administration controlled the cattle from entering the Koshi Tappu area.

16 INJURED IN BAGLUNG JEEP ACCIDENT

Kathmandu, 18 April: As many as 16 persons were injured in a jeep accident in Baglung, on Wednesday, RSS reports from Baglung.

The jeep (Lu 1 Ja 3078) heading to Nishi from Burtibang, met with an accident in Tarikhet of Burtibang-2.

Seven passengers among them were critically injured and are undergoing treatmentat Burtibang Hospital while nine others have returned home after first aid.

The jeep driver Chura Bahadur Nepali of Rupakot, Gulmi district, has been absconding and the cause behind the accident has not been ascertained yet, said police.

Meanwhile, two persons were injured in another jeep accident that took place in Chapakharka, of Damek VDC-9 on Wednesday morning.

The jeep (Dha 1 Ja 100) was heading to Baglung Bazaar from Gaja Daha Chapakharka, of Damek VDC-9. Both the injured are undergoing treatment in Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital, Baglung.
