BAIDHAYA FACTION ANNOUNCING DETAILED PROTESTS THURSDAY

Kathmandu, 12 April: First Vice-chairman Mohan Baidhaya faction of
UCPN (Maoist) is announcing further details of its street and parliamentary protests against party establishment and government at a news conference Thursday.
The Maoists dissidents jointly with 11 other communist groups Wednesday held torchlight protests in the capital opposing a sudden handover of cantonments to Nepal Army (NA)
Chairman Prachanda and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Tuesday put the 9,900 former PLA fighters and their weapons ,now under NA control, even without
detailed agreement on integration and voluntary retirement
Disagreement on the two processes had delayed implementation of the processes to complete the peace process—a pre-condition of opposition to proclaim a constitution.
Prachanda and Bhattarai were described as ‘lal gaddars’ by demonstrators Wednesday.
By sending in police to disperse protestors Wednesday, government and party have indicated they will pursue a tough and uncompromising line against rebels.

PM BHATTARAI CLEANS UP BAGMATI ON LAST DAYON CONTROVERSIAL WEEK-LONG CAMPAIGN

Kathmandu, 12 April: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai Thursday participated
in a controversial a week-long Kathmandu clean-up he helped launch.
The government helped the polluted Bagmati river at Tilganga jst south of Pashupatinath temple on the last day of the campaign launched by involving the Kathmandu
Metropolitan Corporation.
There was little public participation in an attempt to draw 100,000 youth in the campaign amid charges of an attempt to financially reward Maoist activists.
CIAA has started investigating charges of financial irregularities in procurements
of materials for the campaign without issuing tenders.
