FORMER MINISTER WAGLE GETS CONCESSION

Kathmandu, 12 April: A division bench of the supreme court Wednesday reduced an apex court sentence on former Minister Chiranjibi Wagle, serving a jail sentence
for financial irregularities.
The top NC leader and former minister was convicted of a CIAA charge for possessing assets disproportionate to his income.
The division bench gave a verdict on a writ filed on Wagle’s behalf
seeking sentence reduction because he surrendered to the court within 60 days of his conviction 15 April 2010..
There’s legal provision for relaxation of sentence if convicted personally present
themselves at the court 60 days before a verdict.
Wagle can get a Rs.4 million waiver while his jail sentence could be reduced by three months, according to his lawyer Keshab Joshi.
Wagle was sentenced to 18-month imprisonment along with a Rs.23.million fine

TASK FORCE BEGINS WORK TO RECOMMEND TECHNICALITIES FOR INTEGRATION

Kathmandu, 12 April: A four-member task force to work out details on integration and retirement of former Maoist PLA fighters began its work Thursday morning to prepare
recommendations for a special committed headed by Prime Minister Baburam
Bhattarai.
The body of representatives of four main governing and opposition parties was formed Wednesday evening by the special committee.
The task force will recommend details on technicalities for ,integration of 6,500 fighters in Nepal Army.
Voluntary retirement from cantonments and satellite camps is beginning
Thursday.
