NO COMPROMISE ON DEMOCRACY SAYS SUSHIL KOIRALA
Kathmandu, 14 April: President of Nepali Congress Sushil Koirala said his party would not make compromises going against democratic norms and values in the new constitution, RSS reports.
Speaking at a function organised by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 5 to extend greeting on the occasion of the Nepali New Year 2069 BS, Koirala said, the NC that has arrived in the position through great struggle would not make any compromise going against any democratic norms and values, ideology and principal.
President Koirala said the peace process has taken the positive turn ensuring to forward the constitution writing process, adding NC got the energy and inspirations from Nepali people, NC leaders, and cadres to make its stance for democracy.
Similarly, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel said the environment for constitution writing process was created when the peace process took positive turn after the handover of the Maoist cantonments and arms to the Nepal Army.
Central member of the NC, Narhari Acharya stressed for federalizing the country on the basis of identity and capability but federalizing the states on the basis of ethnicity was not acceptable to his party.

3M CHINESE ASSIST FOR VDCs IN GORKHA DISTRICT OF PM
Kathmandu, 14 April: The Government of China has provided an assistance of three million rupees to the seven different Village Development Committees (VDCs) in the remote northern region of the district, RSS reports from Gorkha..
The assistance will be used for purchasing food grains and corrugated zinc sheets, it is said. The VDCS receiving the Chinese aid are Chhekampar, Samagaon, Prok,Bihi, Lho, Chumchet and Sirdibas.
An agreement to this effect was signed recently in Kerung, China, said Kamal Prasad Bhattarai, the Chief District Officer of Gorakha district. Local representatives of the three main political parties, the Local Development Officer of Gorakha district and CDO Bhattari and local Chinese officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect.
Of the total financial assistance, one million rupees would be used for purchasing food grains while the rest would be used for purchasing corrugated zinc sheets for constructing the roofs of different public buildings in these VDCs.
It has been agreed that the Chinese government will transport the required food grain up to the border area of Chhekampar and Samagaon VDCs. RSS
