PM. CHAIRMAN NEMBANG DISCUSS PEACE, CONSTITUTION
Kathmandu, 9 April: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang have held discussions on the efforts being made towards concluding the peace process and the progress made so far in the constitution-writing front, RSS reports.
In the discussion held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday morning, they agreed to further intensify the talks among the major political parties for expediting these two tasks.
CA Chairman Nembang, on the occasion, drew the prime minister's attention towards the need of expediting the task of amending the CA calendar of operations by forging agreement among the parties in order to cut short the process of issuing the new constitution, as it would not be possible to issue the new constitution within May 27 going by the existing provisions of the Interim Constitution.
The CA chair also inquired the prime minister regarding the progress status of the commitment expressed by the political parties that they would settle the contentious issues seen in the constitution writing by April 17 and take the peace process to a definite stage by April 12.
To this, the prime minister said that the army integration task under the peace process would be completed by April 12 and gave assurances that the major political parties would hold serious discussions beginning tomorrow for expediting the constitution writing process.
The prime minister added that preparations have already been completed for the serious discussions among the top leaders of the major parties slated for tomorrow, expressing the belief that agreement would be reached on peace and constitution after holding serious and marathon discussions on these topics for two days from tomorrow.

GOVT. OBSTACLE FOR PEACE, DEVELOPMENT SAYS DALIT LAWMAKER
Kathmandu, 9 April: : Chairman of the Dalit Janajati Party and lawmaker, Bishwendra Paswan, claimed that the current government itself was the problem for the peace and constitution writing process., RSS reports from Saptari.
Addressing the First National Assembly of the Dalit Women's Rights Forum (DWRF) here on Monday, he said Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai should resign immediately and pave the way for the peace and constitution writing process for he failed to take forward the constitution writing and concluding the peace process.
Paswan furterh stressed on the need for guaranteeing the rights of the Dalits, indigenous nationalities, Muslims, women, and backward societies in the new constitution, saying the constitution writing process was shadowed due to the UCP- Maoist and some Madhes based parties in power.
Similarly, Chairperson of the Dalit Women's Rights Forum, Radhadevi Shrestha, stressed on unity among the women to fight for their rights and expressed her commitment to continue the fight to ensuring women's rights in the new constitu

MOROTCYCLIST DEAD
Kathmandu, 9 April: A pillion rider died on the spot in a road accident at Sunawal in Nawalparasi district along East-West highway this [Monday ] afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Nanda Lal Kalwar, 33, of Pratappur-9 in the district.
The accident took place when a jeep (Lu 1 Ja 4299) heading towards east from west hit the motorcycle (Lu 8 Pa 8047) coming from opposite direction, said Assistant Sub-inspector at the District Traffic Police Office, Nawalparasi, Prem Shrestha.
Police have arrested the jeep driver and impounded the jeep.
