FAR-WEST CLOSED DOWN FOR 17th CONSECUTIVE DAY
Kathmandu, 13 May: Activists demanding greater far-West region of nine districts
Closed the region for the 17th consecutive day as they came out on the street in Dhamgadi to press their cause.
In Kathmandu, Maoist Chairman Prachanda asked his supporters to come
out on streets against those protesting against federal provinces while the party pushed ethnic regions protested by two main parties NC and UML.
Tharus in the far-West are demanding division of the region by ceating thir province in Kailali and Kanchanpur.

PM ASKS EVICTED SETTLERS TO MOVE TO CHOVAR
Kathmandu, 13 May: Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai Sunday asked evicted squatters from Thapathali to move temporarily to Chovar, the site of Himal Cement Factory, temporarily until a permanent site is found for them.
The premier asked those evicted o collect Rs.16,000 given by government
and move to Chovar until permanent arrangements are made for their permanent residence while asking them to form forms to identify genuine landless.
The prime minister mase the move following pressure from his Maoist party,
Nearly 250 houses were demolished in Thapathli this month.
