At a meeting with the representatives of the indigenous nationalities at his residence on Sunday, President Koirala said the country would see another conflict if the federalism was determined on single ethnic identity. So, ethnic harmony should be respected, he stressed.
He urged the indigenous representatives to help settle transition in order to institutionalise the achievements of the people's movement.
However, the indigenous representatives submitted a memorandum to the NC President requesting for NC's help to federate country based on single ethnic identity.

CALL FOR ONE MADESH PRADESH

Organising a press conference here on Sunday, the Front emphasised the need of unity among all Madhesh-centric parties so as to guarantee their rights in the new constitution.
Madhesh-Terai Forum Chairman Amar Yadav accused the major parties of not becoming serious towards the constitution-drafting.

KAMAL THAPA CALLS FOR ELECTION
Kathmandu, 13 May: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Kamal Thapa, has said a new election was essential for the country because it was almost impossible to get democratic constitution as per the people's aspiration on time, RSS reports from Bhadrapur..
Talking to the National News Agency (RSS) at Bhadrapur Airport on Sunday, Chairman Thapa claimed that the constitution being built with the bargain among four major powers would not ensure peace, democracy and economic prosperity but invite another conflict.
"It is time to admit weakness. It would be better to opt for new election," he underscored.
The concept of ethnicity-based federalism was faulty, he said, adding that the prior rights to the ethnic communities would split the country.

‘PM AIDE SAYS GOVT. CHIEF CONSIDERING EXTENDING CA TENURE
Kathmandu, 13 May: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s political advisor Devendra Poudel revealed that PM is endeavouring in the task to extend the Constituent Assembly (CA) deadline, Greatwayonline reports.
Poudel, addressing an interaction program organised at Reporters Club in the Capital, said that the constitution would be promulgated by the CA, even if the parties have to extend its deadline. He said that the parties would solve their differences to extend the deadline of CA.
Claiming that the CA cannot be dissolved before promulgating constitution, Poudel said that if the CA deadline was not extended then the country would be pushed towards anarchy.
“CA cannot be dissolved without a proper alternative. PM Bhattarai also believes that CA should not be dissolved before the promulgation of the constitution,” said Poudel.
Furthermore, Poudel said that anti-federalists want to continue the political status quo. He claimed that the demand of ‘integrated Far West’ is a proof of those conspirators.
