GOVT., FAR-WEST PROTESTOR TALKS SATURDAY Kathmandu, 11 May: Talks between government and negotiators of the far-Wet demanding Greater Far-West region is being conducted in the capital Saturday. A 22-member talks team from the far-West arrived in the capital Friday to negotiate with a three-member government ministerial team headed by Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Shitaula. At least six persons were injured Friday in clashes with activists Greater Far-and Tharus demanding a province incorporating Kailali and Kanchnpur. nnnn KAMAL THAPA SAID CONSTITUTION WON’T BE PROMULGATED Kathmandu, 11 May: RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa reiterated Friday a constitution won’t be promulgated in the remaining 16 days. He said in Khandbari what wasn’t promulgated in four years won’t be promulgated inn 16 days. nnnn UML ISSUES WHIP Kathmandu, 11 May: Opposition UML issued a whip Friday asking its constituent assembly (CA) members to e compulsorily present the Valley during the assembly sessions The party is the third largest after Maoists and NC which has already issued such a whip. The CA is meeting to proclaim a constitution to institutionalize a declared republic. Nnnn REMARKABLE INCREASE IN FOREST FIRES IN DANG Kathmandu, 11 May: In an increase of forest fires in Dang this year, altogether 26,800 hectares of forest cover was lost in the far-West district this year, forest officials said Friday. There were 83 fire incidents this year compared to 26 last year. The fires were ignited mainly by irresponsible users. nnnn
