MAOIST CHIEF ASKS WORKERS TO PREPARE FOR ELECTIONS Kathmandu, 29 May: UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed the former members of the Constituent Assembly ( CA) from the party to gear up for the fresh CA elections announced by the government for November 22 this Year, RSS reports.. The meeting of the UCPN-Maoist taken place at the party's headquarters Paris Danda, Koteshwor on Tuesday instructed the former CA members from the party to set out for their respective districts and the constituencies and make necessary preparations for the elections, according to former lawmaker Chandra Bahadur Thapa. "The new constitution could be drafted in time if our party was not committed to the pro-people constitution", said party Chairman Dahal accusing the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML of barring the nation from going to federalism along with ethic identity . Claiming that only the UCPN-Maoist could guarantee the people's rights, leader Dahal expressed his hope of securing two-third majority in the next CA elections. Similarly, Party Vice Chairman and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai said the government announcement for the fresh CA elections was 'constitutional' and he was committed to move ahead taking all the parties into confidence. However, leaders close to party's senior Vice Chairman Mohan Baidhya were not present at the meeting. Nnnn NRNs EXPRESS CONCERN Kathmandu, 29 May: The Non-Residents Nepali (NRN) Association has expressed serious concern over the Constituent Assembly (CA) dissolution sans drafting a new constitution, RSS reports. Issuing a press statement today, the NRN has urged the political parties to forge national consensus stating that minimum agreement among the political parties could resolve the serious problems in the country. According to the statement, people's desire for writing a constitution by their representatives since 2007 has been once again shattered after the dissolution of the CA. The NRN has also appealed all community people to maintain social harmony and move ahead in the days to come Nnnn 12 INJURED IN SINDHUPALCHOWK BUS ACCIDENT Kathmandu, 29 May: At least 12 passengers including two minors were injured in a road accident at Jholunge of Mangkha VDC in Sindhupalchowk district this Morning Tuesday], RSS reports from Chautara.. All injured are undergoing treatment at Sadabahar Community Hospital, Khadichaur, according to the Area Police Office, Barhabise. The accident took place after a bus heading towards Barhabise from Kathmandu skidded off the road. Durga GC, 30, of Pangretar-6, her seven-year-old son Kiran GC and 18-month old daughter Karina GC were among the injured. One of Maneshwora VDC, four of Mangkha VDC, five of Pangretar VDC and two of Kadambad VDC in the district were injured in the accident. nnnn
