NC TALKS WITH INDIGENOUS LAWMAKERS
Kathmandu, 12 May: The Nepali Congress (NC) on Saturday held discussions with its lawmakers representing indigenous communities over the issue of state restructuring in the new constitution, RSS reports.
The meeting was conducted at the NC Parliamentary Party (PP) Office, Singha Durbar this afternoon.
NC has started parleys with its indigenous lawmakers after lawmakers of different political parties decided to stand firm on single identity-based federalism in the new constitution.
During the meeting, top NC leaders were also present.
NC parliamentary party spokesperson Nabindra Raj Joshi said that during the meeting the NC leaders told the party lawmakers that NC was committed to ensuring rights of all communities as the party was raising voices in favor of indigenous, nationalities, Dalit and marginalised communities soon after the restoration of multiparty democracy.
Joshi said party's attention has been drawn over the issues raised by indigenous lawmakers.
However, at the meeting NC PP leader Ram Chandra Paudel said that lawmakers should be conscious about the party policy and theory.
