PM ASSURES INTERVENTION TO SAVE LIFE OF NEPALI ON DEATH ROW IN UAE

Bhattarai has said that every possible effort shall be made to save the life of Amar Bam, who has been facing a death penalty in Dubai, U.A.E, RSS reports.
Accepting a memorandum in this regard from CA members and human rights activists from the far western region at New Baneswar on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said diplomatic measures shall be taken to save Bam from death penalty, and also to bring him back home, according to Maoist central member Khaga Raj Bhatta.
A resident of Dari VDC in Darchula VDC of the far western region, Mr Bam had reached Dubai in course of foreign employment ten years ago.
The Dubai court has reportedly announced a death penalty against Bam on the charge of murdering a local resident.

MAOISTS URGE RESTRAINT
Kathmandu, 9 May: UCPN (Maoist) Wednesday urged government restraint while evicting persons from banks of Bagmati river.
The party in a in statement one day after eviction of nearly 250 families said government shouldn’t use ‘excessive force to evacuate landless squatters’.
Spokesman Dinanath Sharma demanded govrnmentprovide alternative settlements to occupants of public land.

KATHMANDU: CPN UML has agreed on 11-province model with an authority to the provinces themselves to name the province.
A parliamentary party meeting of the party held at Singhadurbar on Wednesday agreed to adopt a 7 to 11 province model. However, "UML will put efforts to cater consensus on 7 to 8 province model," said UML General Secretary Yuvraj Gyanwali.
"But we are also open for 11 province model if the authority of naming the province is given to the province itself," Gyanwali added.
Lets the name the province as 1, 2, 3 for the time being and provide the authority to name the provinces to the provinces themselves said another leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari.
Earlier the Maoists have proposed to form 11 provinces on the basis of ethnicity and geographical viability. Similarly the party has decided not to support a directly elected Presidential system. Earlier the party has agreed to adopt a mixed form of governance with divided executive powers between the PM and President.
However it has traced back to its earlier demand for a directly elected Prime
Ministerial model.
