PRESIDENT CONFERS NEPAL RATNA POSTHOMOUSLY TO GANESH MAN SINGH Kathmandu, 22 May Altogether 219 personalities were conferred conferred state honours by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Tuesday for their contributions. Nepal Ratna was posthumously awarded to Ganesh Man Singh. Rastra Gaurab was posthumously awarded former Prime Ministers Manmohan Adhikari and Girija Prasad Koirala. Several persons refused the honours and awards. nnnn. FORMER ANCHALADISH RAM NARAYAN SHRESTHA DEAD Kathmandu, 22 May: Former anchadish of Mechi, Rapti and Narayani anchals and retired secretary of local development ministry Ram Narayan Shrestha died Sunday while undergoing treatment in the capital. He was 84. Shrestha hailed from Dhankuta and was founding secretary of Dkankuta Multiple Campus. Nnnn BUS VANDALIZED IN CHITWAN Kathmandu, 22 May:: Agitating cadres of Indigenous Nationalities’ Joint Struggle Committee set a bus on fire at Simpani in Manahari VDC-4 here early this Morning [Tuesday] along the east-west highway, RSS reports from Hetauda. . The night bus (Na 3 Kha 9169) was heading to the east from Butwal in Rupandehi district. The attack took place at 5 a.m. Fire destroyed passengers' luggage, but no human casualties have been reported in the incident, the District Police Office,Makawanpur, stated. nnnn
