TIMELY GOVT. ACTION WOULD HAVE SAVED LIVES AND DESTRCTION Kathmandu, 6 May: Kaski jeep accident death toll increased to 12 dead and three injured. The district in the West was hit Saturday by a flash flood on Seti river. The government busy in the capital with retaining power amid stiff opposition didn’t initiate action to open a river blockage triggered by collection of wood and mud following heavy rain. The timely action would have saved lives and destruction. Nnnn UML DECIDED NOT TO JOIN GOVT. FOR NOW Kathmandu, 6 May: Opposition UML central committee meet Sunday formally decided not to join for now the government saying it is still a majority and not a national unity government and talks with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, propaganda Chief Pradip Geywali said after the meet. The party said it was treated shabbily and said the premier violated Thursday’s five-point agreement in assembling the government and distributing portfoloios without consulting it. UML, Geywali said, had been ‘minimized and undermined’. nnnn
