NIDC OFFICIALS TRANSFERRED BREACHING ELECTION CODE Kathmandu, 28 June: Two officials of Nepal Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC), a state-owned financial institution, have been transferred, breaching the election code of conduct issued by the Election Commission (EC), RSS reports. Those transferred officials are Indira Yadav and Bechu Maharjan. According to Biratnagar Regional Office of the NIDC, Officer Yadav was transferred to Biratnagar from Kathmandu while Maharjan was transferred to Kathmandu from Dhangadhi office. The EC had already issued election code of conduct in the name of government not to transfer and promote the officials except for the provision of election after declaration of the elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) on November 22. RSS Nnnn TU CONVOCATION IN POUSH Kathmandu, 28 June: The Tribhuvan University has been making preparations to hold the convocation ceremony in coming Poush this year, RSS reports. Some 54,406 students from various stream including humanities and social sciences, education, science and technology, forestry, included in the grace list would participate in the convocation. Information about this was shared by TU registrar Dr Chandra Mani Poudel at the annual meeting of the TU Assembly on Thursday. Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai pointed out the need to make the university education scientific and reformed to meet the international demand as per the changed context. Also the Chancellor of the TU, PM Dr Bhattarai said even the open and distance learning should be included in the higher level to enhance the people´s access to higher education. Stride in the education was essential for the socio-economic transformation and prosperity, stressed the Prime Minister. On the occasion, Education Minister Dina Nath Sharma said the government should provide further economic support to make the TU economically strong. TU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hira Bahadur Maharjan said the efforts were on to make the TU a best place of higher study. Even a teaching hospital would be set up on the premises of the TU, he added. He complained that the TU was facing acute financial crunch. There are some 360,000 students pursuing higher education under the TU nnnn
